The Nirmali assembly segment was re-constituted after a huge gap of 57 years in 2008 as per the implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India. According to the same Delimitation Commission, the constituency consists of Saraigarh Bhaptiyahi, Raghopur and Nirmali community development blocks. Nirmali is in Supaul district of Bihar.
A total of 2,46,003 eligible voters populate the Nirmali legislative assembly constituency. There are 1,27,640 men and 1,18,361 women who hold the right to vote.
